Middle School After-School Program Coordinator (Part-time)

$15/hour M-F 2pm-6pm August 8, 2017 – June 5, 2018 (Following the CUSD school calendar)

About the program Crash Zone (CZ) is an afterschool program for middle school students located at West Valley Presbyterian Church in Cupertino. We provide students with a safe, friendly environment to come do their homework, watch a movie, play games, or just hang out with friends.

About the position Qualified candidates must enjoy working with middle-school students. The right candidate will have the personal skill set to connect with and build relationships with the students as well as supervise others. Other qualifications would be the ability to follow instructions, a good grasp of the English language, and the willingness to be trained to understand Crash Zone policy and procedure.

Specific Job Duties a. Supervise Crash Zone assistants and volunteers – You are responsible for assigning and managing assistants and volunteers for each of the Crash Zone rooms on a daily basis. You will alternate between the various rooms each day as needed to support the Crash Zone Staff. You will train the permanent Crash Zone Coordinator. b. Snacks and supplies – You are responsible for managing inventories of room supplies, games, snacks and any other materials necessary for Crash Zone. You will work for the Youth Director and/or Christian Education Committee to manage your Crash Zone Budget. c. Plan games and activities that promote interaction between staff, volunteers and students. d. Crash Zone Administration –  Provide staff with sign-in/sign-out sheets, enter attendance in Ministry Tracker, and text parents of absent students on a daily basis.  Produce monthly invoices for each student for the following month. All invoices are mailed prior to the first day of each month. Contact parents with outstanding invoices and help find resolution when needed. e. Room/Outside Supervision – The Coordinator is responsible for the overall supervision of the Crash Zone program. They will provide support to the staff as they help students work through conflicts. Any staff or discipline issues that cannot be resolved by the classroom staff will be brought to the coordinator for resolution. f. Daily Cleanup – Supervise the cleanup and organization of the Crash Zone rooms before and after each day. Ensure that the Crash Zone staff understand and fulfill their obligations each day. g. Weekly wrap up – Hold a weekly warp up meeting with staff and any volunteers that want to attend – share ideas, discuss highs and lows, discuss students as needed.

Any candidate being considered would be background checked.

Crash Zone is not a religious program, however, some knowledge of church life and culture would be considered a plus.
