Sustaining Manager - Maxonic (Sunnyvale, CA)

We currently have an immediate requirement for Sustaining Manager in Sunnyvale, CA. This is a Fulltime Permanent position We are looking for an engineer to manage a small team of software developers responsible for maintaining our PacketShaper product. The candidate will triage customer reported issues and be able to investigate and also resolve issues. He/she will be responsible for delivering timely patches and maintenance releases across our supported versions. The manager of the PacketShaper sustaining team will represent the team in all aspects of the maintenance release process. This includes: -working closely with the Support group on prioritization of issues, -managing and monitoring the work of the team -working with functional/system test managers to schedule the validation of fixes Specific position responsibilities: - Triage the new customer issues escalated to engineering, propose configuration change or workaround when possible, work with Support to reproduce the issues, assign the issues to expert developers for resolution. - Become an expert in some areas of the product to be able to investigate and fix the code for these areas - Plan maintenance release content, coordinate with QA and communicate the schedule to Support - Occasionally represent engineering in high profile customer accounts through email, conference calls, and onsite visits as required. - Help specify and develop debug/diagnostic tools to improve the customer experience  by reducing the time to analyze, workaround, and fix customer issues. Required skills: - Ability  to motivate and drive effective teams - Solid  understanding of TCP/IP networking. - Solid  understanding of at least one Layer 7 Protocol like HTTP, HTTPS/SSL, RTSP. - Sound  understanding of the principles underlying MP-safe software development - Familiarity  with BSD socket programming. - Strong  C and C++ programming skills. - Familiarity  with common packet analysis tools like Wireshark, Ethereal or tcp dump. - Self  starter with strong initiative and perseverance - Ability  to drive multiple, concurrent projects to completion - Excellent  verbal and written communication skills. Desired skills: - 2-4  years of managing development/sustaining teams - Experience  with embedded software development. - Experience  developing highly scalable (multi-gigabit) network applications. - Familiarity  with Deep Packet Inspection.
