On April 27th, the New Junior Manners Cotillion, a youth enrichment program developed by manners expert Dr. Janine Gerzanics, will host a workshop addressing the importance of social skills for children.

Geared towards 2nd-4th graders, Dr. Gerzanics’ workshop will help children develop the manners and social skills necessary to grow into successful, productive young adults.

The workshop, held from 9am-4pm at the Los Altos Lutheran Church, will educate children on how to identify bullying tactics and be more proactive towards anti-bullying. The class focuses on reinforcing positive communication and empathy through the understanding of group dynamics.

The fun-filled, entertaining, and interactive workshop illustrates how children can become “Cool, Kind Kids” through different methods such as art, poetry, music, and role-playing to address the root causes of bullying.

Individual subjects include: Communication Skills, Personal Manners, Getting Along, and Manners in Public Places. In addition to these classes, lunch will be provided where table manners will be another point of emphasis.

Her belief is that developing core values and social competence together will equip kids with the tools necessary to resist the stereotype that bullying is cool.
